Payments
A large part of the Chia Blockchain's functionality is payments. Payments to your peers can be made using official or unofficial wallets directly over the blockchain. Currently, the fees to make a payment are 0; that means that you do not have to pay to let a transaction be validated on the blockchain. As the Chia Blockchain will be used more frequently for validation due to more transactions, transaction costs may increase in the future.
As very few blockchains (layer-1) are scalable to handle large amounts of traffic, a solution is sought in layer-2. It is not unimaginable that Chia will be hooked on the Lightning Network to scale its payment potential in the future, and that payments with Chia will be done both on-chain and off-chain.
